The District Collector and officials of the Kerala State Pollution Control Board (PCB) will carry out a joint inspection at the Freshcut poultry waste rendering unit at Ambayathode near Thamarassery in Kozhikode district on Friday (August 7) in the wake of the latest Kerala High Court order that stayed the PCB’s order to shut the factory, citing public complaints.
Sources said the joint inspection report would be examined by the court to take a final decision on the closure. Meanwhile, a section of local action committee members alleged that the PCB’s closure order issued on August 5 was meant to hoodwink the public. They said further legal measures would be taken to challenge attempts by the factory management to bypass public protests and continue operations.
