Marvel Studios has reportedly found its new Cyclops in Warfare actor Kit Connor, who will star in the next X-Men film.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios has tapped Kit Connor to play Scott Summers, AKA Cyclops, in its upcoming X-Men movie. The film will be helmed by Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier, who has been hard at work on putting the project together for the last year. It appears to be a high priority one at that, as the studio has been carefuly assembling its mutants by speaking to multiple candidates over the summer. Last week, it was reported that Samara Weaving will play the role of Emma Frost, and there has been a flurry of rumors surrounding other X-Men parts since then.

It's unclear what the exact roster will be this time, but it seems like Marvel is skewing younger this go-round. Kit Connor is only 22 years old, which suggests many of his cohorts will likely be around his age. The actor is also close in age to a would-be love interest who recently joined the MCU in another project, though we'll refrain from spoiling the details here. Weaving is notably older than Connor and The One Who Shall Not Be Named, so there may be some room for Marvel to shake things up if the casting is right.

With three back-to-back X-Men casting now confirmed, it wouldn't be surprising if we hear more news regarding the likes of Charles Xavier, Magneto, and other key X-Men characters in the near future. If the cast is fully assembled by this fall, the next X-Men movie may aim for a 2028 release window. Currently, Marvel is planning to release Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3 that year, but there's certainly enough room for X-Men in there, as well. Marvel is planning a soft reboot post-Secret Wars, and the introduction of the X-Men would fit well in that.

The previous X-Men regime will get one last victory lap, as they will play a central role in Avengers: Doomsday and presumably Avengers: Secret Wars, as well. Whether or not the likes of Hugh Jackman will continue to play Wolverine through multiverse shenanigans remains to be seen.
