Magnitude 5.8 Mindoro offshore quake felt in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck off Occidental Mindoro on Friday morning, August 7, with shaking felt as far as parts of Metro Manila.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology located the tectonic earthquake 21 kilometers southwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

It struck at 10:38 a.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The quake was felt in Makati and Mandaluyong in Metro Manila, although PHIVOLCS had yet to release reported intensity levels as of its initial bulletin.
