WATCH: Fil-Am singer H.E.R. impresses with ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’ rendition
Filipino-American R&B singer-songwriter H.E.R. celebrated her Filipino roots and showcased her love for OPM with her rendition of the classic “Maging Sino Ka Man.”
H.E.R., whose real name is Gabriel Sarmiento Wilson, visited a Filipino restaurant based in New York and gamely took on a videoke challenge.
A clip of her performance, shared by the management of the establishment on Instagram on Tuesday, Aug. 4, showed the singer being cheered on as other restaurant customers sang along to the song.

“When H.E.R. makes a special guest appearance at Kalyeoke,” the caption reads, making mention of Megastar Sharon Cuneta whose rendition of the Rey Valera classic became a hit in the 1990s.
Among those who admired H.E.R.’s rendition in the comments section was Cuneta’s daughter, actress-singer KC Concepcion.
Meanwhile, H.E.R. has also reconnected with her Filipino heritage as she headlines the upcoming Hollywood animated feature “Forgotten Island.” She and Filipino actress Liza Soberano are leading the cast, which includes Lea Salonga, Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate and Jo Koy.
The soundtrack of the movie will also feature BINI and Katseye’s Sophia Laforteza. /ra
