Kit Connor eyed to play Cyclops in upcoming ‘X-Men’ movie — report

British actor Kit Connor reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to portray the character of Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, in Marvel’s upcoming film featuring the mutant superheroes X-Men.

An insider disclosed this to foreign news outlet Deadline, saying that Connor was chosen from several candidates who met with director Jake Schreier and Marvel president Kevin Feige.

“Sources say the studio ultimately landed on Connor last week to become the latest actor to don the Cyclops visor,” the outlet said.

Marvel Studios, however, has yet to confirm or deny this as of this writing.

Should he be cast as Cyclops, Connor will be the third actor to portray the optic blast-wielding mutant, following James Marsden and Tye Sheridan. Marsden was earlier announced to reprise the role in “Avengers: Doomsday” which is set to premiere this December.

Connor is best known for playing Nick Nelson in the queer TV series “Heartstopper” and its feature-length film “Heartstopper Forever.” He also appeared in the films “Warfare,” “Rocketman” and “Little Joe.”

Meanwhile, aside from Connor, Samara Weaving is also reportedly joining the cast of the upcoming “X-Men” film as Emma Frost. /ra
