MOSCOW, August 7. /TASS/. Marine unmanned systems units are operational in the Russian Navy, and the quantity and quality of the drones in these units will continue to expand, according to Admiral Nikolay Yevmenov, head of the Naval Academy military training and research center.

"Currently, naval unmanned systems units have been formed within all fleets, equipped with modern naval robotic systems for various purposes. In the future, their numbers and capabilities will continue to increase, which will enable the transition to the joint use of unmanned systems and conventional forces," writes Yevmenov in an article entitled "The Role of Naval Robotic Systems in Strategic Operations of the Russian Armed Forces" published in the Russian Defense Ministry’s journal Voyennaya Mysl (Military Thought) that TASS has received.

Earlier, Fleet Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, noted that unmanned systems regiments have already been created within the Russian Navy.
