According to Ukrinform, the regional police stated this on its website.
Investigators established that a 36-year-old man brought five artillery shell casings to the scrap metal collection point. He struck one of them with a hammer, after which an explosion occurred.
"As a result of the detonation, three people aged 26, 36, and 51 suffered injuries of varying severity. Later, the 36-year-old victim died in a medical facility from his injuries, while doctors assess the condition of the two other victims as moderate," police said.
Explosive ordnance disposal specialists recovered fragments of the explosive device at the scene. After examining the other four casings, they determined that they did not pose a danger.
