Former judge of the High Court of Karnataka and Orissa judge Krishna S. Dixit said that law students carry a great responsibility as future custodians of justice.

He was addressing a gathering after formally inaugurating KLE Tech School of Law in Hubballi on Saturday. The new School of Law offers BBALLB (Honours) LLB (Honours) and LLM.

Mr. Dixit highlighted the importance of the Indian Constitution to legal education and public life and drew on the ancient Indian knowledge system to illustrate the enduring wisdom that continued to inform contemporary legal thought.

He said that a law student must be conversant with all disciplines of study and called on the students of law to emerge as future judges, advocate generals and eminent lawyers.

In his prefatory remarks, dean, Faculty of Law and Principal, KLE Law College, Bengaluru, J.M. Mallikarjunaiah traced the KLE Society’s long-standing contribution to legal education over the decades. He noted that the newly inaugurated School of Law, Hubballi, marked the seventh law college established under the KLE Society’s umbrella.

Former Assistant Solicitor General of India and advocate of High Court of Karnataka Shashikantha C. told the students to keep undistracted sight of their ultimate goals. Invoking the teachings and principles of Swami Vivekananda, he encouraged the young minds to build their careers on a foundation of discipline, purpose and service.

Presiding over the function, Vice-Chancellor of KLE Technological University Prakash Tewari briefed about the programme structure. Dean, Academics, KLE Technological University B.B. Kotturshettar and senior faculty members were present.
