Two-and-a-half years after it was launched, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-UpsGeetu Mohandas, was unveiled at an event in Bangalore.
Produced by K Venkat Narayana under the banner KVN Productions, along with Monster Mind Creations helmed by Yash, the movie is set to hit the screens on August 26, 2026. Apart from Yash, Toxic has a stellar cast, including Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Kiara Advani.
The 4-minute-38-seconds trailer gives a detailed look into the complex and visually rich world of the film. It opens with a child pleading with Yash’s character, who is badly wounded. At one point, Yash screams and points the gun violently at the kid. The trailer then cuts to show Kiara, who works at a circus company. Yash is enamoured by her beauty and is seen approaching her later. His character is shown to be having affairs with multiple women as he takes direct action against the city’s top gangsters, resulting in lot of bloodshed. In a scene, Yash is naked in front of a woman, who tells him that she expected to have a civilised conversation. “Do I look civilised to you?,” Yash replies.
The trailer then introduces his twin, who has shorter hair and beard and is seen manically killing people. The two characters are at loggerheads with one another as they prepare for a violent clash. The film shows visuals of a snow-ridden landscape where the two meet. There are extensive visuals of a burning cartwheel, dreamy images of the circus and high-octane action sequences where Yash’s character is seen shooting and slicing the gangsters. The film promises to be a melodramatic exploration of love blended with violent action.
So far, two songs — ‘Tabaahi’ and ‘Manamohaka’— from the movie have been released. Both songs hint at an intense romantic drama against a crime backdrop. Toxic has been originally shot in Kannada and English.
Yash has promoted his ambitious venture at CinemaCon and Comic-Con 2026. The actor repeatedly expressed that Toxic isn’t a typical action drama. “Toxic has got deep psychology. It’s got interesting aspects of human life. The film shows a unique way to present a dark character.”
The highly anticipated movie is hitting theatres after multiple postponements. The film was pushed from its release date of March 19, 2026, due to “escalating military tensions and conflict in West Asia.” Later, it was postponed from June 04, 2026 to August 26, 2026 as the makers were “aligning global distributors”.
Rajeev Ravi is the cinematographer for Toxic, while Ravi Basrur is the music composer. KGF: Chapter 2 fame Ujjwal Kulkarni is the editor. JJ Perry of John Wick and Fast & Furious has done the action choreography, while Anbariv masters and Kecha Khamphakdee have also worked on the stunts.
In 2026, apart from Toxic, Yash will be seen on the big screen in Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. In the epic retelling, Yash plays Ravana while Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi essay the roles of Rama and Sita respectively. The big-budget movie is set to release in November 2026. Yash returns to cinema after four years, following the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2
