The Adimaly region under Devikulam taluk in Idukki witnessed extremely heavy rainfall on Saturday afternoon, resulting in waterlogging of business establishments and isolated mudslides along the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway connecting the Munnar hill station.
According to residents, Adimaly town and the adjoining highway stretch experienced intense downpours lasting a few hours, leading to the flooding of several homes and commercial units, particularly around Library Junction. The sudden inundation caused substantial financial losses to local merchants and residents.
A mudslide was reported at Leksham Veedu near Adimaly along the highway, while Kallarkutty witnessed both a tree fall and a mudslide. Officials confirmed that debris and fallen trees were promptly cleared from the road, allowing traffic to resume.
