In a major enforcement drive, police officials conducted raids at 230 public places and registered cases against 231 persons for consuming alcohol in public places in Kadapa district over the weekend. Additionally, 55 cases were filed against motorists for drunk driving.

District police conducted extensive checks across the district under the directions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Shelke Nachiket Viswanath. The special drive, launched from August 8 (Saturday) evening across the limits of all police stations, focused on identifying and taking action against persons consuming alcohol in public places and those driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

The SP warned that public drinking, drunk driving and activities that disturb peace and public order will not be tolerated. He directed the police personnel to maintain strict vigil and take firm action against violators. He further said that strict legal action would be initiated against individuals who cause inconvenience to the public by consuming alcohol in public places or engaging in anti-social activities that pose a threat to public safety.

The district police appealed to the public to refrain from public drinking and drunk driving and to cooperate with them in maintaining peace, public order and road safety across the district.
