According to Ukrinform, the Naftogaz Group announced the attack on Facebook.

"Russia launched a massive attack on Naftogaz Group assets in eastern, western and central Ukraine," the company said.

"The enemy continues to carry out massive strikes on various enterprises belonging to the Naftogaz Group. In particular, overnight on August 9, Ukrnafta's production assets and the company's drilling site came under a massive attack," the statement said.

The company noted that dozens of attack drones were used against the production infrastructure.

The sites sustained significant damage, with some equipment knocked out of operation. Operations at the facility have been suspended. Thanks to the safety measures in place, none of the employees at the attacked sites were injured, the Naftogaz Group said.

On August 7 and 8, seven UKRNAFTA gas stations in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian drone attacks. One of the strikes injured a gas station employee. The worker is currently in hospital and receiving all necessary medical care.

In addition, on August 8, Russian forces attacked Naftogaz production facilities in central Ukraine with jet-powered drones. Personnel were in shelters at the time of the strike. The targeted facility sustained severe damage.

Naftogaz Acting CEO Serhii Fedorenko said: "Over the past few days, the intensity of enemy attacks on oil and gas infrastructure has increased significantly. It is clear that the enemy's goal is to inflict maximum damage on Ukrainian production and other critical infrastructure in order to prevent preparations for the heating season. Our priority is to save people's lives and continue working, even under such difficult circumstances."

As Ukrinform reported, since the beginning of 2026, Russia has carried out 287 attacks on Naftogaz Group facilities, exceeding the number of attacks recorded throughout 2025.
