Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Home Minister Priyank Kharge, alleging that Ministers in the State government were making statements without proper information.

Reacting to a statement made by Mr. Kharge, Mr. Kumaraswamy said, “Priyank Kharge makes statements out of competition. His statement on the BMIC project is childish. He is speaking without information and merely for the sake of talking. He does not even know who is collecting the toll there.”

Warning Congress leaders, Mr. Kumaraswamy said they would face the consequences in the next elections for allegedly misleading people. “You are deceiving the people. You will be wiped out in the next election. Be warned,” he said.

He alleged that the Congress government was trying to make money through projects and misleading people through colourful advertisements designed to create a favourable impression.

On the proposed Bidadi Township project, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the Congress fact-finding committee itself had described the land in Bidadi as fertile agricultural land. “I had stated in the Assembly in 2007 itself that the Bidadi Township project should be stopped. D.K. Shivakumar, who was the MLA and opposed the project then, is now the Chief Minister.”

Mr. Kumaraswamy also alleged that some Ministers in the State Cabinet had been assigned the task of attacking him and the JD(S). “They have no other work. Their ministerial positions are limited to abusing me and our party,” he charged.

Earlier, Mr. Kumaraswamy visited Chamundi Hills and offered prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari. All JD(S) MLAs accompanied him during the visit.

Mr. Kumaraswamy also had breakfast at the Mylari Hotel in Nazarbad. A large number of people gathered to take photographs with him. He interacted with the people and thanked them before leaving the hotel.
