Tamils settled and involved in business activities in more than 160 countries would participate in the 13th Global Economic Summit and World Tamils Conference 2026 to be held in Mauritius, said G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT Vellore.

At a press conference held in the city on Tuesday, he said the conference would be held from September 11 to 13 and would have a large contingent from South Africa as a large section of Tamils were settled in Durban.

V.R.S. Sampath, president of World Tamils Economic Foundation, said the international Tamil conference to be held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service, would have the Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam delivering the inaugural address. Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool will also participate in the valedictory function. Mr. Sampath said the conference would be a platform for attracting foreign investment to the island through the Tamilian diaspora in various sectors.

VGP Group of Companies Chairman V.G. Santhosam was also present at the press conference.
