The State Women’s Commission has called for mandatory premarital counselling to strengthen marital relationships and help prevent disputes. It has also recommended counselling for couples after marriage to address problems early and reduce marital conflicts.

Commission members V.R. Mahilamani and P. Kunjaisha made the suggestion during a sitting held at the Collectorate here on Monday. The sitting received 33 complaints, including several related to domestic violence and boundary disputes. Five cases were settled, while 28 were posted for the next sitting.
