MANILA, Philippines — The distribution of P20,000 in educational assistance under the national government’s “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” presidential scholarship program continued in Lucena City, Quezon Province on Tuesday.

In a ceremony at the Lucena City Government Complex, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. handed out P20,000 each in educational assistance to the 165 students for their school-related expenses.

The funds for the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” come from the Socio-civic projects fund of the Office of the President, under which each barangay in the country will receive P200,000, with half of the grant allotted for its 5 presidential scholars.

“Education is of utmost importance. Therefore, make good use of the scholarship fund we are providing. Use it wisely, study hard, strive for excellence, and work diligently. In doing so, we will see the results—not just because we are implementing this program in barangays across the entire Philippines,” said Marcos in his speech.

Marcos added that there will be over 200,000 presidential scholars every year across 42,000 barangays in the country.

Meanwhile, along with the distribution of educational assistance, there are also 52,000 residents from the province who received 10 kilograms of rice each. — Geneson Satsatin/INQUIRER.net Trainee /mr
