First Lady Melania Trump has reportedly only appeared in public 38 times in 2026.

Trump's last appearance was in mid-July, according to an analysis by The Daily Beast that examined her schedule since the start of the year.

In her most recent outing, the first lady attended the World Cup final with her husband, President Donald Trump on July 19. But the same month she was notably absent during the dignified transfer ceremony of U.S. soldiers killed in the Iran War on July 22, and did not attend the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner on July 24.

She was also not present at the funeral for Senator Lindsey Graham on July 28.

Two of her public appearances and one of her radio appearances were to promote her documentary Melania.

After the flurry of activity promoting the $40 million Amazon documentary, her appearances dried up. Since the start of the summer, she has been photographed in public or appearing on official schedules five times. Two of those were sporting events.

Even with her already limited number of appearances, she is still showing up more frequently than she did in 2025, according to The Daily Beast's analysis. That year she appeared in public only 47 times since her husband's inauguration on January 20.

Public speaking events are often the domain of the first ladies, but Trump has been notably less frequent in those appearances than her fellow presidential spouses.

Since her husband's return to office, Trump has only given public remarks 29 times, including her out-of-the-blue press conference in April denouncing the "lies" about her connection to Jeffrey Epstein.

“The false smears about me from mean-spirited and politically motivated individuals and entities looking to cause damage to my good name to gain financially and climb politically must stop,” she said at the time.

Other first ladies have done a lot more talking; between January 2009 and August 2010, Michelle Obama made 130 speeches.

In the same 18-month period during former President Joe Biden's presidency, Jill Biden gave 43 speeches.

This year, the first lady was most active in April. In addition to her Epstein press conference, she also appeared at the initial White House Correspondents' Dinner — before an apparent assassination attempt derailed the event and forced it to be rescheduled — and received King Charles and Queen Camilla during their visit that month.

July was her least active. Other than the World Cup appearance, the only other time she appeared in public was during an Independence Day celebration in Washington, D.C. with the president.

When she does make an appearance, the first lady tends to stick to Washington, D.C. Approximately 80 percent of her appearances this year have been in the nation's capital. Two were made in New York — one to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, and another to give an address at the United Nations.

She also made a visit to North Carolina for a visit to Fort Bragg, a visit to Maryland to visit the National Institutes of Health, one to Delaware for a dignified transfer ceremony, a visit to New Jersey for the World Cup, and a trip to Mar-a-Lago in Florida with her husband.
