The team behind Calamity, a hugely popular Terraria mod which began development in 2016, has announced that âthe mod’s future development is halted until further notice.â This follows allegations against its lead developer for âactions endangering minorsâ and unpaid compensation of âseveral thousandâ dollars to the modâs dev team.
As originally covered by GamesRadar, the entire development team behind Calamity, other than its owner and lead dev, Ozzatron, announced on August 10 that they are collectively âceasing all developmentâ of the decade-old mod due to its âirrecoverably tainted reputation.â
According to one of Calamityâs lead devs, Mrrp, who shared the news on the modâs official Discord server, Ozzatron was removed after the team allegedly saw âsolid evidence of their actions endangering minors on Discord.â
Said alleged evidence stems from a separate Discord server named âWormhole,â which Ozzatron, its owner, described as a âchill serverâ in which users could âvent about thingsâ and âpost lots of porn.â This is currently unconfirmed, but the Calamity community has created a Google Drive folder containing the purported evidence.
Likewise, in a separate message on the Calamity Discord server, the collective âCalamity Mod Developersâ stated that they âhave not been compensatedâ for their contributions to the mod, and that Ozzatron has not stated what he âintends to do with the several thousand in saved Patreon money.â
Mrrp also asked that users âcancel Patreon donationsâ for the Calamity Patreon page in light of this announcement, due to both the discontinuation of the mod and the fact that âOzzatron owns the account.â It would seem that most Patreon members got the message, as an August 9, 2026 Internet Archive snapshot of the Calamity Patreon page stated that it was pulling in roughly $2,600 a month. As of this writing, that figure has dropped down to roughly $480 a month.
While Mrrp noted that the Calamity âdev team is working with tMod staff in order to officially transfer ownership of the [Steam] workshop to a new owner,â this may prove difficult as Ozzatron âowns Azafure LLC, which owns the Calamity Mod.â The Calamity Mod Developers signed off on their joint statement by saying that âdespite all of this,â they are âincredibly thankful for the overwhelming amount of support over the past decade.â
âThis journey has been long, bumpy, rough and chaoticâ¦yet itâs still been wonderful despite that,â reads the Calamity Mod Developersâ statement. âWorking on this, so many of us have learned to accomplish things we never thought we would be able to do, and no matter how painful it is to never see our dreams truly finished, the things weâve learned we can do to be able to see the rest of our dreams maybe come to fruition some day is something that can never be taken away.â
