PBA: Titan Ultra sends Joshua Munzon to TNT in proposed trade

MANILA, Philippines–Titan Ultra is set to finally ship two-way star Joshua Munzon to TNT after months of negotiations between the two PBA teams.

Under the proposed deal sent to the PBA Commissioner’s Office, Munzon will head to the Tropang 5G in exchange for rookie center Joe Celzo and a first-round pick in the Season 53 Draft.

An approval will be needed before Munzon can head to the TNT, which has been interested in acquiring the two-time All-Defensive Team member and last season’s Most Improved Player.

It also came on the same day that Titan Ultra played minus Munzon when it was clobbered by San Miguel Beer, 143-113, in the Governors’ Cup at Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Initial reports said that Munzon didn’t play due to “flu-like symptoms.”

TNT and Titan have been discussing the possibility of a swap involving Munzon dating back to the Commissioner’s Cup.

Sources said that both parties initially had a handshake agreement that would see TNT getting Munzon in exchange for Rey Nambatac, before the deal fell through.

Instead of Nambatac, the slumping Giant Risers are getting Celzo, taken in the fourth round and 46th overall by the Tropang 5G during last year’s Draft.

Celzo has played just one game this conference, ironically against Titan, before being relegated to the injured/reserve list.

The pick, meanwhile, will be available around the period of 2029 or 2030.
