In 2023, the stars of the Resident Evil franchise — Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers — joined forces to take down a mysterious bioterror outbreak on Alcatraz Island. That Avengers-level event for Capcom's survival horror franchise was told in Resident Evil: Death Island, an animated film from Capcom, Quebico, and TMS Entertainment.

Resident Evil: Death Island is the fourth film in the animated Resident Evil film franchise, and it will soon be retold in manga form, thanks to the upcoming Titan Manga collection, Resident Evil: Death Island Vol. 1. According to publisher Titan Comics, the "biopunk horror manga" retelling of the story "expands the Resident Evil universe with heart-stopping encounters, explosive set pieces, and character-driven drama."

Resident Evil: Death Island Vol. 1 is illustrated by artist ZINO, aka Zino Kodakujii or Zi Nuo Ye, who previously worked on Phantom Blade and Unity of Heaven. The manga previously ran in serialized form on Kadokawa's Comic Hu platform. The localized version will be released in the West on Sept. 29. The 224-page black-and-white manga collection will cost $12.99.

Next up for the Resident Evil franchise is a new live-action film from Weapons director Zach Cregger, which arrives in movie theaters on Sept. 18. Capcom also has a remake of Dreamcast-era game Resident Evil: Code Veronica in the works. Resident Evil: Veronica is bound for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2027.
