Kudumbashree’s Thrissur District Mission is gearing up for the Onam season with 201 sales fairs across the district under the tagline “Onam with Kudumbashree”, offering a wide range of festive products while ensuring better market opportunities for women entrepreneurs. The district mission will organise two fairs each in the district’s 100 Community Development Societies (CDSs), besides a district-level fair. The initiative aims to provide fair prices and wider market access for Kudumbashree enterprises while making safe, locally produced products available to consumers at affordable prices.

The fairs will feature an array of products made by Kudumbashree entrepreneurs, including chips, jaggery-coated banana chips, payasam mixes, traditional Onam delicacies, spice powders, herbal products, soaps, toiletries, handicrafts and handloom products. Fresh vegetables, fruits and agricultural produce cultivated by Kudumbashree Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) under the ‘Onakkani’ project, flowers grown under the ‘Nirapolima’ initiative, and milk products, including pure ghee, will also be available.

To add to the festive spirit, the fairs will host live chips-making stalls, payasam festivals and cultural programmes by members of neighbourhood groups and Balasabhas. Kudumbashree canteen and catering units will also prepare and supply Onam sadyas through 26 café units across the district. Customers can place advance orders for home delivery.

Each CDS will market at least 100 Onam kits priced between ₹500 and ₹750. The kits will contain around 11 Kudumbashree products, including chips, jaggery-coated banana chips, payasam mix, curry powders, pappad, pickle and coconut oil, besides locally produced items available in the respective CDS areas. The district mission also plans to distribute free Onam kits to economically disadvantaged families with the support of neighbourhood groups and sponsors. Consumers can also purchase Kudumbashree’s Onam special products through the PocketMart online platform, enabling convenient doorstep access to the festive range.
