PRAGUE, August 12. /TASS/. Europe is not prepared for a new wave of Ukrainian refugees that may arrive this winter if Russia renders life in Ukraine unmanageable with strikes on energy infrastructure used by the Ukrainian army, the Lidove noviny newspaper reported.

This winter, "the majority of Ukrainian territory could become practically unsuitable for living," leading "Ukrainians to flee to Europe," the newspaper said. According to Lidove noviny, European states are not ready for this scenario. Most Europeans already hold negative attitudes towards migrants.

More migration will not only weaken European support for Ukraine, but also widen internal rifts in Europe itself, the newspaper added.

According to Lidove noviny, Ukraine should be most worried about Russian ballistic missile attacks. The only effective way of repelling them is to employ US-made interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems, which Kiev critically lacks due to, among other things, the US military operation against Iran.

Lidove noviny said that the best way to protect Ukraine would be to send as many interceptor missiles for Patriot systems as possible from Europe to Kiev even at the cost of European countries weakening their own defense capabilities. Whether this option would find political support in Europe remains to be seen, the newspaper concluded.
