Reported net income grew at a faster 31.2 percent to P5.8 billion.

Core earnings growth accelerated in the second quarter, with core net income attributable to shareholders climbing 23.6 percent to P2.24 billion.

Monde attributed the improvement to higher gross profit and a foreign exchange gain, reversing a foreign exchange loss in the same period last year.

Its Asia-Pacific branded food and beverage (APAC BFB) business remained the group’s main earnings driver.

APAC BFB net sales increased 5.9 percent to P36.9 billion in the first half, driven largely by biscuits and the strategic growth category. Domestic sales rose 6.4 percent to P35 billion.
