Elon Musk has reportedly informed

SpaceX employees during a recent company town hall that the company plans to train its Grok artificial intelligence (AI) model on internal corporate communications, staff data and workplace contributions. As per a report by Business Insider, speaking to staff during a company-wide meeting, Musk framed the initiative as a way to instill human-aligned values into superintelligent AI systems by leveraging data from aerospace workforce operations.

âWe're going to be training Grok on the sum total of all SpaceX information. So in a way, it will be trained on you. You will effectively be the parents of the AI. It will inherit your thoughts and ideas and beliefs, and I think that's a good thing,â Musk told employees, the report noted.

Tapping internal enterprise data for next-gen AI

SpaceX did not specify the exact categories of internal communications, software logs, or employee metrics that will be used to train Grok, nor the privacy protocols governing the datasets. The strategy follows similar workplace data collection pushes across major tech conglomerates attempting to build AI âagentsâ â programs designed to navigate desktop software, automate administrative tasks and write code autonomously.

The report says that this is done because the companies have exhausted most of the readily available training data on the internet. Hence, they are now turning to data from employees and other sources, such as factory and sensor data, to improve their models' ability to navigate real-world tasks.

Expanding the Grok AI ecosystem

The training push coincides with SpaceX's broader efforts to expand its AI offerings following its integration of xAI and the recent launch of âGrok Bot,â an autonomous agent capable of logging into web platforms, drafting emails and generating software code.

To further bolster its technical capabilities, SpaceX is finalising a reported $60 billion acquisition of AI coding platform Cursor, which is expected to close in the coming months. Addressing employees at the town hall, Musk urged staff across departments to actively test and refine internal Grok tools.
