Shrisha Suhas Tarihalkar, whose family hails from Belagavi, won the British U10 Girls’ Chess Championship.
Her father Suhas Tarihalkar, who studied in Belagavi, settled down in the United Kingdom.
Competing in the U10 category, Ms. Tarihalkar made a remarkable comeback after scoring just one point in her first three rounds. She then showed tremendous determination, winning three of her next four games, and drawing the other to finish with an impressive 4.5/7.
She shared the British U10 Girls’ Chess Champion title with Mary Cawdery. Her achievement saw her become the latest member of the Commonwealth Chess Association (CCA) to win a British chess title, following in the footsteps of Elis.
