LOOK: Rabiya Mateo officially begins med school journey

Rabiya Mateo has officially begun her journey in medical school, participating in the University of Santo Tomas’ Thomasian Welcome Rites on Thursday, Aug. 13.

The actress-beauty queen was all-smiles in her white medical uniform while mingling with fellow medicine students at the university’s annual opening activity for new students. Photos of Mateo were shared by the university’s official student publication The Varsitarian on its Facebook page.

Speaking with the publication, Mateo said, “You can have a lot of your dreams in your life. It doesn’t mean that you have this lifetime and you can only have one goal to reach.”

“I want to be a doctor that is so inspirational that other younger women would look up to, and that they would say that this girl made everything possible,” she added.

Also celebrating Mateo’s first day of school was her boyfriend, actor Jake Cuenca, who gifted the “future doctor” with flowers.

Mateo graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Iloilo Doctors’ College in 2018. Last March, she topped the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) with a 741 General Performance Score (GPS) on the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), placing her in the Top 1% of test-takers nationwide. /*edv *
