Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the Assembly T. Harish Rao has demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy immediately cancel the proposed auction of 10.63 acres land at Raidurg by TGIIC on August 17 and 21, pending resolution of completing title, protection of heritage precincts and ownership rights.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the BRS leader said on Thursday that the land in question was located at Raidurg Panmaktha village and it was declared as a heritage site through GO 4 issued on January 2, 2003. Since it is declared as heritage site, it is the bounded responsibility of the government to protect it under the Telangana Heritage Act, 2017.

In a special leave petition filed before it, the Supreme Court had directed the State government on May 7, 2025 to avoid creation of third party interest and settle the issue as per rule of the land. Proceeding with the auction of the disputed land by dividing it into two plots of 5.25 acres and 5.38 acres would raise serious questions of propriety, due diligence and administrative prudence.

Mr. Harish Rao reminded Mr. Revanth Reddy that it was he (the latter) who had approached the High Court in 2020 seeking protection against the creation of third-party interests in the land falling within the survey number 83, where the disputed land too is located.

He requested the Chief Minister to halt all sale, transfer, registration and development activity on the dispute 10.63 acres land until ownership is legally determined, preserve and investigate any missing, misplaced or tampered records relating to heritage property, review the earlier auction of 6.2 acres land, including SBI’s ownership claim, and the pending High Court proceedings, and initiate appropriate independent investigation into the reported disappearance or misplacement of waqf records.

In addition to heritage precincts, title and other waqf related issues raised by Jamia Nizamia had also asserted rights over the survey number 83 of Raidurg. Under such circumstances the government must not allow the estimated ₹2,000 crore value land to override the fundamental question of lawful ownership and its heritage precincts, said Mr. Rao
