A special HR cell has begun functioning in the Health department to prepare the seniority list of doctors and ensure timely promotions.
Health Minister K. Muraleedharan announced that the decision to form the special cell was taken as vacancies in the department were remaining unfilled as promotions were not taking place. Doctors were also in a fix as unresolved files and procedural delays were affecting their promotions. The shortage of doctors in service has also been causing difficulties for the public.
A special HR cell to deal with the seniority list and promotion procedures had also been a long-standing demand of doctors. The cell will be headed by Anil V., deputy director in charge of medical and hospital administration at the Directorate of Health Services and Vineeth V.R., junior administrative medical officer in the planning wing. The cell will function in coordination with various sections of the Health department.
The Minister said the goal was to resolve seniority and promotion matters for all doctors in the specialist, general, and administrative cadres by this December, so that promotions are granted in a time-bound manner.
