A recall has been issued for approximately 250,000 Cooluli minifridges following warnings that an electrical fault could trigger fires or cause severe burns. A notice released on Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission highlighted that the affected "10-Liter" and "15-Liter" appliances feature an internal switch susceptible to short-circuiting.

Explaining the issue on its website, Cooluli stated, "On some older units, the selector switch that toggles between Cooling and Warming modes can overheat." According to the CPSC, the manufacturer has so far logged a minimum of 19 complaints involving units smoking, sparking, melting, burning, overheating, or bursting into flames.

These safety hazards have resulted in over $80,000 in reported property damage, with at least one user suffering from smoke inhalation, safety officials stated.

The affected items were distributed via Amazon and Cooluli's official site from January 2019 through October 2024, retailing at prices ranging from $80 to $120. The recall applies strictly to select 10-Liter and 15-Liter models built with an internal power setup.

"This is limited to specific older production batches, so most Cooluli refrigerators aren’t affected," the Brooklyn-based brand confirmed, clarifying that newer models containing external power supplies remain safe from the recall.

To resolve the flaw, the company is offering complimentary repair options. Owners should verify their unit's model number on the firm's website and, if impacted, follow instructions to sever the power cable and upload photographic proof to claim a free replacement kit.

Regulatory authorities strongly advise customers to cease operating the recalled minifridges right away.
