Another person found wounded at Gun City shop where man fatally shot by police took gun

A wounded person has been found at the same Gun City shop where a man who was later shot dead by police stole an air-rifle.

A retail worker across the road, who did not wish to be named, said three police cars and three ambulances were at the scene.

Hato Hone St John confirmed they were at the scene and had taken a person to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.

It comes just one day after a 33-year-old man was fatally shot by police as he approached Auckland's Sylvia Park Shopping Centre while carrying a stolen air rifle from Gun City.

RNZ understands the man is Hapai Ropata Clyde Otene.

Police were carrying out a critical incident investigation and had confirmed the IPCA had been notified and would be carrying out its own investigation.
