The Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) has demanded that the Union government disclose the names of the committee that prepared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) question paper, asserting that the move would help identify those responsible for the alleged paper leak.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, DSS State convener Arjun Bhadre said the Centre should conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak and fix accountability for the irregularities.

Mr. Bhadre demanded that the Union government make public the details of the committee that prepared the question paper for the examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). He said such a disclosure would help identify those responsible for the alleged leak and restore the confidence of students and parents in the examination system.

Condemns police action

Referring to a recent protest at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi led by environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, along with student organisations and job aspirants, Mr. Bhadre condemned the police action against the protesters.

He said that the police used tear gas and resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse demonstrators who were peacefully demanding justice over the alleged NEET paper leak.

Mr. Bhadre also claimed that workers of the BJP and the RSS joined the police in assaulting the protesters. Terming the incident as an attack on democratic rights, he said students raising legitimate concerns should have been heard instead of being subjected to force.

Demanding strict action against those responsible for the alleged paper leak, Mr. Bhadre urged the Union government to ensure a fair, transparent and time-bound probe.

He said all those found involved in the alleged irregularities should be identified and punished, and measures should be taken to prevent such incidents in future to safeguard the interests of lakhs of students appearing for competitive examinations.
