Ogie Diaz clarifies management ties with Aiko Melendez ended amicably

Ogie Diaz said he and Aiko Melendez remain on good terms despite ending their talent management relationship, clarifying that their differing political views were not the reason for their parting ways.

Melendez earlier announced the end of her professional relationship with Diaz, who later confirmed the split through his YouTube vlog.

“Si Aiko Melendez ay maayos na nagpaalam through Viber message na magko-concentrate siya sa politics; at ‘yung mga gusto niyang mangyari sa buhay niya, mga gusto niyang direksyon. [Para] ‘yung gusto niyang tahakin sa politika ay magawa niya,” he said.

Diaz noted that he did not manage Melendez’s political career and that he was only involved in her movie career, which comprises just “20%” of her life.

He then acknowledged that he and Melendez support different political personalities, but stressed that it was not a source of misunderstanding between them.

“Magkaiba kami ng kulay sa politika ni Aiko. May mga bumibira sa kanya kung bakit ‘di kami magkasundo sa kulay niya. Gano’n din naman sa akin, bakit daw ‘di kami magkasundo sa kulay ko. Dapat daw kakulay ko si Aiko or kakulay ako ni Aiko—hindi po. Hindi naman po kami para tibagin ng kung anong kulay mo sa politika,” he said.

“Ang importante, maayos kaming naghiwalay ni Aiko… Nandito lang naman ako ‘pag kailangan ni Aiko,” Diaz added.

Melendez and Diaz began their professional partnership in 2023. /ra
