The problem with Google Sheets is that it can become daunting to manage as the data grows. This also makes it difficult to find specific information quickly. Google is using the power of Gemini and mini-apps to solve this problem.

The company explains the feature as a "dynamic, read-write layer that sits directly on top of your spreadsheet data." So, you don't have to bother with columns and rows. You can use the mini-app to manage and navigate data in any way you want.

What makes mini-apps inside Google Sheets even more powerful is that you don't need any coding skills to create them. Gemini will do all the heavy lifting; you just need to describe what you want in natural language. Any changes you make in the mini-app will automatically reflect in the spreadsheet.

Even better, you can continue refining the mini-app as you go.

Use mini-apps in Sheets to track progress

For students juggling multiple subjects and deadlines, Google says Sheet canvas can double as an interactive study planner. They can use it to keep track of assignments, monitor their progress, set reminders, and get a clear overview of upcoming deadlines. Or, if you follow football, you can use Sheet canvas to build a command center for your fantasy football team. From there, you can track your team’s and players' performance, compare stats, and more.

If anything, mini-apps in Google Sheets can turn a messy project tracker into a clean dashboard that's far easier to manage.

Sheets canvas is rolling out globally to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. It is also available to Google Workspace users on Business, Enterprise, Standard, Plus, and the AI Pro for Education add-on. For now, the feature only works with spreadsheets in English.
