Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a building at the Gloriavale Christian Community on the South Island's West Coast.

Fire and Emergency says it received a report shortly before 9pm on Friday night.

One crew arrived to find a building at the site well involved on fire.

When the fire was reported, the caller said all people had been evacuated from the building, FENZ said.

FENZ was not aware of any injuries.

Four more crews were on their way to the site, FENZ said on Friday night.
