Fans still have to wait another year until Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third entry in the series, hits theaters. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended on a cliffhanger that left fans on the edge of their seats. But it appears not everyone is willing to wait until the next movie's official release.

On Aug. 13, some Beyond the Spider-Verse leaks surfaced on the internet, and they definitely intrigued those who saw them. At first, still images of some scenes appeared, but they were generic; besides giving fans a better look at the Prowler, they didn't provide any new information about the upcoming movie. The images are allegedly from CinemaCon, but it remains unknown if they're real or not. Fans have questioned the veracity of the pictures extensively, which is valid, especially considering how prevalent AI-generated art has become.

The next leak was much more important, as it showed four minutes of footage from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. It is likely the opening scene of the upcoming movie, as it looks like an immediate continuation of the final scene in Across the Spider-Verse, where Miles and the Prowler are talking. After this, it smoothly transitions to the other main characters' whereabouts, and it seems like the movie will kick off from there.

Sony is working hard to take down the leaked footage, but it is widely circulating on social media. More and more accounts continue to download it and repost it. Several dataminers and leakers have reuploaded it, which is why no source has been identified as the original leaker.

While some were excited to get this early look at what could be coming in Beyond the Spider-Verse, others have voiced their opinions against it. Besides this being copyrighted material that was published without authorization, it will also reach the feeds and timelines of those who don't want to see any spoilers or leaked images, ruining their experience.

Even though the trailer looks real, artificial intelligence has evolved significantly in the past few years, and it could certainly come up with a video that is just as sophisticated as this one. For now, fans have to sit back and wait until more news surfaces. Sooner or later, they will find out if the clip was legitimate or not. Until then, Sony will surely continue to investigate and take down any attempts to share the clip.
