On Wednesday night, millions across Europe gazed up at the sky – wearing protective glasses or using makeshift viewers – hoping to catch a glimpse of the partial solar eclipse.
And eclipse fever isn't quite over yet.
While there won't be another total solar eclipse visible from Britain until 2090, next year's event offers an opportunity to see totality elsewhere.
The next total solar eclipse will take place on August 2, 2027, with the path of totality crossing parts of southern Spain, North Africa and the Middle East.
Some cruises for next year's major solar event have already sold out. New Scientist, which offers eclipse sightseeing voyages, has created a waiting list for its Egypt cruise, while three of its Morocco tours are already fully booked.
But would-be eclipse chasers need not despair. There are still some spectacular trips available, offering the chance to witness the 2027 eclipse from some of the best viewing spots along its path.
A Spanish solar eclipse cruise

The 11-night voyage begins on July 28, 2027, and departs from Southampton. After a day at sea, the first stop is La Coruña where passengers can explore the 9th-century port town before calling at Vigo the next day.
On August 2, guests will either be able to witness the eclipse from the open ship deck or ashore in Cádiz.
'With clear skies and a favourable viewing position, you will be ideally placed to experience this remarkable event,' the itinerary promises.
The ship then calls at Gibraltar before sailing for three days back to Southampton.

Or head to Egypt, where the eclipse is set to be visible for six minutes and 23 seconds
The next total solar eclipse is expected to be six minutes and 23 seconds long in Luxor, Egypt – making it one of the longest of the century.
There are still holidays available to book in the country to mark the cosmic occasion, including a nine-day Solar Eclipse & Magic of the Nile trip with Omega Breaks.
After arriving in Cairo on July 27, travellers check out the new Grand Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids of Giza before heading on an overnight sleeper train to Aswan.
Next up is a cruise on a traditional wooden sailing boat along the river Nile. Other excursions include visiting the Kom Ombo Temple, The temple of Horus and guided visits of the East and West Banks of Luxor.

A Moroccan mountain adventure
Travellers can also view the solar event from Chefchaouen in Morocco
