BDO steps up scam awareness drive for senior citizens

MANILA, Philippines — BDO Unibank is working harder to protect senior citizens from financial scams by expanding its fraud awareness campaign with help from community partners.

The Sy-led bank’s foundation and Fraud Management Unit recently held a scam awareness session for senior citizens in partnership with Barangay Bel-Air in Makati. The program focused on helping participants identify common fraud tactics and protect personal and financial information.

BDO urged participants to avoid clicking on suspicious links, sharing account credentials or one-time PINs, and to verify requests through its official channels.

BDO said the initiative is part of a broader fraud prevention strategy that combines security technology, customer protection measures, and public education.

“Fraud prevention is a shared responsibility,” the bank said, adding that informed and vigilant communities are a key defense against scammers. /pai
