The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) has proposed a new road that will reportedly serve as a vital link between two national highways to the west of Tirupati.

The Tirupati-Chittoor-Bengaluru national highway 140 passes to the west of Tirupati, while the Tirupati-Anantapur national highway 71 moves towards the northwest. Both the roads branch out from Thondavada on the outskirts of Tirupati.

The TUDA recently proposed a new 100-feet road passing through Ithepalli, A. Rangampeta and Kalyani Dam, connecting the two major national highways.

Due to the absence of the proposed link road, residents of A. Rangampeta and Bhakarapet areas reportedly have to travel to city outskirts to proceed towards Chittoor, according to TUDA.

“Similarly, residents of Chandragiri and Gadanki areas will have to travel towards Thondavada to catch the Anantapur highway. This new road provides an easy detour and hence avoids the longer travel,” said TUDA Chairman C. Divakar Reddy.

Close to Naravaripalle

Another interesting feature of the proposed link road is that it passes close to Naravaripalle, the ancestral village of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. It will help the Chief Minister’s convoy reach the village in a hassle-free manner from Tirupati city or the airport. As a result, the district administration and the police officials would find it much easier to carry out their security-related drills.

The proposal for realignment has already been placed before the TUDA’s board, while the survey is learnt to be under process.
