The Central government has allocated 25.10 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of various fertilizers to Andhra Pradesh for the 2026-27 rabi season, based on the State’s projected crop area, nutrient requirements, soil fertility status and consumption trends.

The allocation was finalised at a national-level zonal conference on 2026-27 rabi crops held on August 14 to review fertilizer requirements, availability and allocations for the ensuing Rabi season across States. Agriculture Department Secretaries and Commissioners from various States participated in the conference, according to Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Director Manazir Jeelani Samoon.

In a statement, he said that fertilizer requirements were assessed based on the anticipated rabi crop acreage, cropping pattern, soil fertility status, availability of NPK and micronutrients and consumption trends during the previous five years.

The allocations of major fertilizers, including Urea, DAP, MOP (Muriate of Potash), SSP (Single Super Phosphate) and complex fertilizers, were finalised in consultation with State Agriculture Commissioners and based on the recommendations of the Union Department of Fertilizers.

The total area under agriculture and horticultural crops in Andhra Pradesh during rabi 2026-27 has been estimated at 51.76 lakh hectares.

The Agriculture Department had submitted a proposal on fertilizer requirement.

Mr. Samoon said the allocation was in line with the requirements of farmers.

Andhra Pradesh has received an additional 2.02 lakh MT of fertilizers for the current rabi season when compared with the allocation made during the previous year, he said.
