HSBC India opened its new branch in the capital city on Thursday. This will be the second branch for the bank in Kerala after its branch in Kochi. Although the bank earlier had a branch located at Vellayambalam, it was closed down some years ago. At an interaction with mediapersons after the inauguration, Sandeep Batra, Head of Wealth and Premier Banking, HSBC India, said that Kerala has a strong base of globally connected families and entrepreneurs backed by one of India’s most significant NRI communities.
He said that the branch in the city is part of 20 new branches that it has opened across the country after securing approval from the RBI in January 2025. “Kerala’s economy is poised for significant transformation and banks are expected to play a key role in supporting growth through active participation in developmental initiatives and financing of large-scale infrastructure,” he said.
