Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“We are continuing to prepare shelters and build underground educational spaces to ensure the educational process is organized safely. Nineteen underground schools are already operational, and we are finishing up another nine. Together, they will provide educational opportunities for about 10,000 children,” Fedorov wrote.

He noted that special attention is being paid to preschool education. Starting in the new school year, 121 institutions will operate in a hybrid format, and more than 11,000 children will be able to attend kindergartens. Most facilities already have shelters in place.

At the same time, construction is underway in the city on the first three underground kindergartens. At some sites, work is two-thirds complete. Once opened, they will be able to accommodate another 350 children.

As previously reported, due to the deteriorating security situation, Zaporizhzhia schools are expecting 5–10% fewer students starting September 1.
