The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation’s (APIIC) tableau displaying the State government’s focus on industrialisation and industrial infrastructure won the first prize at the Independence Day celebrations held at the Police Parade Ground in Tirupati on Saturday.

The Education department’s tableau on ‘Samagra Siksha’ emerged second, while the Energy department’s tableau by Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL), and the Tirupati Urban Development Authority’s (TUDA) tableau secured the third and consolation spots respectively.

The tableaus by the Agriculture and allied departments, Police, Medical (Sanjeevani), Municipal Corporation of Tirupati, Super 6, SWMA, VB-G RAM G, and Fire Services represented the State government’s focus on development and welfare.

Minister for Endowments Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who hoisted the national flag, received a guard of honour from the police. Collector S. Venkateswar and Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu accompanied the Minister.

R. Radhakrishnama Raju, son of a freedom fighter Raghavaraju Ramalinga Raju of Railway Kodur, was felicitated on the occasion. Government employees excelling in their respective services were presented awards and merit certificates.

Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy later presented a cheque for ₹1,031 crore to the 74,956 members of 10,351 self help groups (SHGs), sanctioned in the form of bank linkages under DRDA, SERP, and other agencies.

Meanwhile, medical equipment worth ₹35 lakh donated by Chaganam Lalithamma Trust was formally handed over to SVR Ruia Government General Hospital on the occasion.
