Stand-in skipper Tejasvi Dahiya led from the front with an unbeaten 60 off 29 balls (6x4, 4x6) as South Delhi Superstarz defeated New Delhi Tigers by six wickets in the Delhi Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Saturday.

With regular captain Ayush Badoni being used as an Impact Player for this encounter, Tejasvi took over the reins and made the necessary impact.

Tejasvi’s innings paved the way for Superstarz to knock off a target of 218 with two balls to spare.

Earlier, the Himmat Singh-led Tigers, asked to bat by South Delhi, made the most of favourable conditions to amass a total of 217 for seven in 20 overs.

A number of Tigers’ batters chipped in with cameos. Vaibhav Rawal made 44 off 30 balls. Himmat took just 19 deliveries to score 38. Lakshay Thareja stayed unbeaten on 30 off 16 balls. Most notably, Manish Sehrawat, who came in at No. 7, struck three fours and four maximums in a 20-ball 42, helping Tigers capitalise in the final stages of the innings. It wasn’t quite enough in the end.

The scores: New Delhi Tigers 217/7 in 20 overs (Vaibhav Rawal 44, Himmat Singh 38, Lakshay Thareja 30 n.o., Manish Sehrawat 42, Divansh Rawat 2/53) lost to South Delhi Superstarz 218/4 in 19.4 overs (Ayush Badoni 35, Pranav Pant 32, Tejasvi Dahiya 60 n.o., Laxman 2/40).
