Guided by this year’s themeThe Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity and Sorority of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine proudly presents Mu Week 2026, a month-long celebration “Imperium: Shaped by Legacy, Destined for Glory,” the event will run from August 17 to September 30, 2026, commemorating the enduring legacy of the Mu Sigma Phi.
Built upon its Four Pillars of Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service, the Mu Sigma Phi has nurtured over 3,000 renowned physicians, educators, researchers, pioneers, and public servants whose contributions have helped shape healthcare and medical education, cementing its status as the first, largest, and most acclaimed Medical Fraternity and Sorority in the Philippines and in Asia.
Mu Week 2026 officially opens on August 17 with the Opening Ceremony, bringing together Brods and Sisses, students, alumni, faculty, and guests to honor Mu Sigma Phi’s rich heritage and longstanding contributions to University of the Philippines, the Philippine General Hospital, and communities across the country.
Service remains at the heart of the celebration with Lukso ng Dugo on August 22, the Fraternity and Sorority’s annual blood donation drive in support of the Philippine General Hospital Blood Bank, encouraging voluntary blood donation to help sustain life-saving healthcare services through partnerships with student organizations and local communities.
Further strengthening its commitment to service, Mu Sigma Phi will also conduct a medical mission in Brgy. Atisan, San Pablo City, Laguna, as part of the ABOT-KAMAY, ALAB-PUSO Program’s Continuing Medical Mission Project. Serving one of the farthest and most underserved communities in San Pablo City, the outreach program aims to provide not only immediate medical assistance but also long-term healthcare support for participating residents through sustained community engagement and follow-up initiatives.
The celebration continues on August 27 with the Fiesta at the Hut, a cherished gathering that brings together Brods and Sisses in a day of fellowship, camaraderie, games, booths, raffles, merchandise, and festivities. The event also serves as a traditional welcome gathering for first-year medical students, introducing them to the spirit of Mu Sigma Phi and its enduring legacy of brotherhood and sisterhood.
In September, Mu Week 2026 will highlight wellness, remembrance, and public health through a series of meaningful initiatives. The organization will host Mu Expedition, an activity inspired by the Fraternity’s longstanding commitment to fostering resilience, solidarity, and camaraderie. Tracing its roots to the Fraternity’s Amputee Climbs under Project MUbility, the initiative continues to promote fellowship through outdoor activities.
The organization will host the Via Hereditas: Solita Camara-Besa Memorial Lecture, launching a new tradition that honors the lives and legacies of distinguished members whose contributions continue to inspire future generations.
Meanwhile, the Sorority’s flagship public health initiative, ImMUnity: Bakunadong Bayani, will provide free vaccinations and promote preventive healthcare among UP Manila and Philippine General Hospital students and employees.
The celebration will culminate with a Thanksgiving Mass and Mu Rock, the UP College of Medicine’s first and only rockeoke party, where students, alumni, and members come together in a night of music, fellowship, and celebration.
