Somehow, throughout all those smashes and all those years, Aldean had never landed a true all-format radio win. That changes this week with “Don’t Tell on Me,” one of his latest singles, which finally brings him into the highest tier on one of Billboard’s most competitive tallies.

14 weeks into its time on the Radio Songs chart, “Don’t Tell on Me” climbs to a new high. The single steps up from No. 12 to No. 10, giving Aldean his first career top 10 on the ranking.

The Radio Songs list measures the tracks that reach the largest audiences across monitored stations throughout the United States. To compile the roster, Billboard combines activity from many different formats, rather than concentrating solely on country – though the music magazine also publishes several style-specific versions of the main roster.

Jason Aldean Had Barely Missed the Top 10 Several Times

Aldean has sent 44 tracks to the Radio Songs chart throughout his career, and several came close to earning the distinction that “Don’t Tell on Me” finally earns this period. “How Far Does a Goodbye Go” nearly became his first top 10 when it climbed to No. 11 earlier this year. “Whiskey Drink” stopped at No. 12, while “Blame It on You” pushed as high as No. 13 in 2021.

Aldean first appeared on the Radio Songs ranking more than two decades ago. “Hicktown” introduced him to the all-format list in 2005, though the track only climbed to No. 55.

Jason Aldean Holds at No. 1 on the Country Airplay List

Less than a month ago, “Don’t Tell on Me” earned Aldean another champion on the Country Airplay chart. The 60-space ranking is the longest radio list published by Billboard, and it is the most competitive tally devoted exclusively to what Americans hear when they turn on the radio. “Don’t Tell on Me” holds at No. 1 for a third consecutive frame.

Jason Aldean Claims the Fourth-Most Country Airplay No. 1s

When “Don’t Tell on Me” first reached the Country Airplay chart’s summit, Aldean broke out of a tie with Alan Jackson, George Strait and Luke Bryan. All four men had collected 26 rulers, and they sat together, jointly claiming the fourth-most winners behind only a trio of even more successful hitmakers.

Aldean now stands alone with the fourth-most No. 1s in the history of the Country Airplay chart. He trails Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw, who have racked up 33, 30 and 29 champions, respectively.

Jason Aldean’s New Single Reaches a New Hot 100 Peak

“Don’t Tell on Me” also advances to a new high on the Billboard Hot 100. The track climbs from No. 38 to No. 34 shortly after finding its way into the top 40.

This week’s ascent allows “Don’t Tell on Me” to break out of a tie with “When She Says Baby,” which also peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also rises higher than “How Far Does a Goodbye Go,” the first single from Aldean’s album Songs About Us, which includes both tracks and arrived earlier this year.

“Don’t Tell on Me” is steady at its all-time high of No. 9 on the Hot Country Songs chart, though if it continues to perform well on the airwaves, it could soon lift to new peaks on the most competitive country ranking.
