Document writers in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday called off their strike after the Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, B.R. Ambedkar, clarified that the proposed Registration Service Centres (RSKs) would not affect their profession or livelihood.

The document writers’ associations announced that document writers would resume their services across the State from Friday.

During a meeting with the representatives of the document writers’ association at the department’s office in Tadepalli, Mr. Ambedkar explained that the Registration Service Centres were being introduced to provide transparent, faster and more convenient registration services to the public.

He said that the government had no intention of undermining the profession of document writers or reducing their employment opportunities through the new system.

According to information from the Registration and Stamps department, the Commissioner addressed the concerns raised by the document writers’ associations.

He reiterated that the initiative was aimed solely at improving public service delivery while ensuring that existing stakeholders in the registration process continued to play their role.

After the Commissioner’s assurance, representatives of the document writers’ associations announced that they were withdrawing their strike.
