Madonna is already one of the bestselling artists of all time, and looking specifically at sales, she will forever hold that honor. Since streaming has changed the music industry, purchases of songs and albums have dropped dramatically over the past several decades. Madonna regularly dominates sales-only tallies whenever she delivers a new collection, which she did earlier this summer with Confessions II, the long-awaited sequel to her Grammy-winning album Confessions on a Dance Floor.

While Madonna may rank among the top-selling artists of any style and from any decade, there are still sales rankings that, apparently, she had yet to conquer. That is, until this week. In the United Kingdom, Madonna’s single “Love Sensation” – now a collaboration with fellow pop legend Kylie Minogue – reaches No. 1 on several rosters and even manages to score the superstar her first leader on one busy list.

Madonna Scores Her First Sales Chart No. 1

“Love Sensation” returns to the Official Singles Sales chart at No. 1. The song reenters the tally – which tracks the bestselling songs of any style in the U.K. using purchases across formats including digital downloads, CD, cassette and vinyl – and reaches the summit for the first time five weeks into its time on the list.

“Love Sensation” amazingly becomes Madonna’s first No. 1 on the Official Singles Sales roster.

Madonna Has Scored Only Six Top 10 Sales Hits

Only half a dozen Madonna tracks have risen into the top 10 on the Official Singles Sales chart out of her three dozen total appearances before this week. The closest Madonna had previously come to No. 1 was with “Danceteria,” another Confessions II track. That cut opened at No. 3 when the album was brand new.

Madonna’s three highest-charting smashes on the tally all come from Confessions II. “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter peaked at No. 4 shortly before the album became available in full, while “Danceteria” rose one space higher.

Madonna Rules Three U.K. Charts

“Love Sensation” appears on four U.K. rankings this week and sits at No. 1 on three of them. The electro smash returns to both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts, reaching No. 1 for the first time on the pair. On the downloads-only roster, “Love Sensation” becomes Madonna’s third career champion.

The newly-released collaboration with Minogue also debuts at No. 1 on the Official Physical Singles chart. As the tune arrives, it gives Madonna her eighth ruler on the ranking of the bestselling songs available on physical formats.

Madonna Scores Her Sixty-Fifth Top 10

“Love Sensation” also debuts at No. 8 on the Official Singles chart, the most important ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.K. As it launches, the song becomes Madonna’s milestone sixty-fifth top 10 on the roster out of 86 total appearances.
