I was already aware of Entropy before Edwin called it a game that looked like a PS1 game fished from a toilet, primarily thanks to the stellar work developer Lovely Hellplace carried out in their previous game Dread Delusion, but I'm sure that would have hooked me in conceptually just as easily. And now you can dive into this turn-based, post-apocalyptic RPG yourself, as it's launched into early access.
The world of Entropy is a miserable one. There was no single thing that caused the pseudo end of the world, just the passage of time and "the inexplicable infertility of the world." At the point in time you start the game, very few humans remain, and you are putting on a theatre performance (for we must continue to make art even at the end). This is quickly ruined by the arrival of demons, forcing you to defend yourself before setting out towards hell itself.

Apart from drawing a comparison to the contents of a toilet, Edwin did also pull on Final Fantasy when describing the game, to give you a frame of reference for what you should expect in terms of the turn-based elements. There's an overworld to explore too, harkening back to those Final Fantasies of old. Where it differs is the fact that your not-so-merry band of mercenaries can permanently die in an XCOMian manner, putting great pressure on your playing to ensure that doesn't happen. As I've told you, this is a miserable world, and these mercs are no different.
In terms of what you can expect from this early access release, the entire first act of the game, which the Steam page explains is roughly a quarter of the full thing. That includes "two towns, three dungeons, and numerous smaller locations and challenges - with plenty of characters, weapons, armours and spells to acquire." So, sounds like you've got enough to get stuck in with! It should be in early access for about a year, with two more acts to come. If you're uncertain that it'll be your cup of bogwater, you can try out a demo still, or alternatively you can just pick it up on Steam.
