The Keralam government has reconstituted the admission supervisory committee and fee regulatory committee for professional colleges in the State.

Former High Court judge K.P. Balachandran is the chairperson of both the committees, a statement quoting Minister for Higher Education Roji M. John said in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday (August 19, 2026).

Higher Education Principal Secretary B. Ashok will be the member secretary of both the committees.

The committees examine complaints related to engineering college admissions and decides the annual course fees.

In February 2026, the government had appointed former High Court judge K.K. Dinesan as chairperson. However, it was brought to the government’s notice that the committee reconstituted in September 2025 with former High Court judge Babu Mathew P. Joseph had become “incomplete” when Mr. Joseph informed the government of his inconvenience in accepting the appointment. The February 2026 order merely appointed Mr. Dinesan as chairperson without reconstituting the committee as required under law at the expiry of the prescribed term.

Since the admission to self-financing colleges was on and the fee regulatory committee needs to conduct regular sittings, the government cancelled the previous two orders and reconstituted the two committees.

The admission supervisory committee will have the Health Principal Secretary, Law Secretary, Comissioner for Entrance Examinations, and education expert N. Jayakumar as members.

The fee regulatory committee will have chartered accountant Santhakumar K., a representative to be nominated by the National Medical Commission/All India Council for Technical Education, and education expert K.M. Benny as members.
