Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cherished goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ is possible only with guidance from Sanskrit literature and Indian culture, said Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Speaking after inaugurating ‘Utkarsha Mahotsava 2026’, the combined annual festival of India’s three Central Sanskrit universities, at the National Sanskrit University (NSU) campus here on Wednesday, he said that ancient knowledge available in the Sanskrit texts would continue to guide India towards becoming a developed nation.

He recalled how the Central Sanskrit Universities Act 2020 was passed to create three institutions — the Tirupati-based NSU, Delhi-based Lal Bahadur Shahstri National Sanskrit University (LBSNSU) and Central Sanskrit University (CSU) — all of which were dedicated to Sanskrit studies.

He called upon the intellectuals from across the country to engage their minds in bringing out the best of traditional knowledge for the world to consume.

Varadarajan, a student of Advaita Vedanta in the university, was felicitated with cash award and an honorary title. A total of 25 research titles brought out by the varsity were released by Mr. Meghwal on the occasion.

NSU Vice-Chancellor G.S.R. Krishnamurthi expressed delight at the university getting the opportunity to host the prestigious event for the second time.

LBSNSU Vice-Chancellor Murlimanohar Pathak, NSU Registrar K. Venkata Narayana Rao, Academic Dean Rajanikant Shukla and event coordinator Ganapati Bhat also participated.
